Our Story

It started with a bike ride. And a little curiosity.

I knew stretches of the Thames already. Or at least, I thought I did. But a familiar path here, an unexplored turning there, and London began revealing a side of itself I hadn’t quite joined together before.

From Battersea towards Barnes and beyond, the city changed character. Traffic gave way to birdsong. Busy streets became riverside paths. Then came the open parkland and wild deer—with the distant skyline offering a gentle reminder that, yes, this was still London.

Naturally, I kept going.

One discovery led to another: a hidden story, a remarkable view, somewhere you simply had to stop. Gradually, those pieces became our first tour. It felt too good to keep to myself.

For years, though, it wasn’t really one route at all. West of Battersea, old wharves and industrial yards cut the riverside off, and the path kept sending you back onto busy main roads. Then, piece by piece, new riverside homes opened up the water’s edge – Plantation Wharf, Battersea Reach, Wandsworth Riverside Quarter – each one adding another stretch of path. Join them together and you get something London didn’t seem to know it had: a largely continuous riverside route from Battersea towards Putney and on to Richmond.

Not long after we’d started welcoming guests, Metro ran a story in which TfL highlighted that very route, from Battersea Power Station to Richmond. Apparently, the secret was getting out.

That same curiosity still shapes every ride. As a British Cycling-qualified Ride Leader, I bring the planning and preparation. Our guests bring the conversation, the questions and, occasionally, jokes good enough to threaten my position.

Our oldest guest so far was a rather magnificent 82. Lifelong Londoners have found themselves saying, “How did I never know this was here?” Others have returned for another adventure, and some for private celebrations.

Meanwhile, we’re still exploring, creating longer and more challenging rides for those who reach the end and ask, “Where next?”

There’s always another chapter. Sometimes, you just have to follow the river.
