London to Windsor: The Right Royal E-Bike Extravaganza

DON’T JUST VISIT WINDSOR. CONQUER IT.

Welcome to The Right Royal Extravaganza — around 40 miles, over 800 years of royal history and an adventure that just keeps on giving.

Your mission: saddle your e-bike in London and ride all the way to Windsor Castle.

Royal parks, palaces, kings, queens, knights, rebels, wild deer, a tiny Thames ferry and perhaps even a dip in the river.

Saddle up beneath Battersea Power Station, ride through Battersea Park past the Peace Pagoda and follow the Thames west.

Then London disappears.

Enter Richmond Park — a former royal hunting ground where hundreds of deer roam freely. At King Henry’s Mound, look east through the protected view to St Paul’s Cathedral.

Then turn around.

Look west across the Thames Valley towards Runnymede and somewhere beyond… Windsor.

It looks ridiculously far away. That’s because it is.

Remember that view.

Descend past historic Ham House, then cross the Thames by tiny ferry — bikes and all. Next, another royal park: Bushy Park, leading to Hampton Court Palace.

Welcome to Henry VIII’s royal playground: six wives, intrigue and a questionable approach to marriage counselling.

Upset His Majesty and… OFF WITH HER HEAD!

Fortunately, we’re only visiting.

Hampton Court is our royal pit stop: fuel ourselves and recharge our mechanical horses before the adventure calls us west again.

We’re only halfway there. Windsor is still waiting.

Back in the saddle, London fades into countryside travelled for centuries by kings, queens, knights, armies and rebels.

But we’re not telling you everything. The route is planned. The adventure isn’t. No two Extravaganzas are quite the same.

If conditions are right at Runnymede Pleasure Ground, there may even be a chance for a paddle in the Thames.

But dry yourself off. We’re approaching 1215.

A king. Rebellious barons. A kingdom edging towards civil war.

Magna Carta.

At Runnymede, where King John met the barons, we’ll visit the Magna Carta Memorial and discover why this meadow became a symbol of rights, liberty and limits on royal power.

Then look at your bike.

Magna Carta or no Magna Carta… WE STILL HAVEN’T REACHED WINDSOR.

One final command: RIDE FOR THE KING!

And then…

WINDSOR CASTLE.

Around 40 miles after leaving Battersea, dismount beneath Windsor Castle.

Remember King Henry’s Mound? Hours ago Windsor seemed impossibly far away.

Now you’re standing there.

YOU CAME ALL THE WAY FROM LONDON BY E-BIKE.

Take the photograph. Claim the bragging rights. Tell your children and grandchildren.

After time in Windsor, don’t panic — we’re taking the train back.

At Vauxhall, remount for a victory lap past MI6 and the US Embassy, then follow the Thames home to Battersea.

Full circle.

Just when you think you’ve seen a highlight, The Right Royal Extravaganza gives you another one.

This isn’t sightseeing. It’s a Right Royal adventure.

Saddle up. Windsor is waiting.

DON’T LOSE YOUR HEAD.
